Pipe Spool Naming Convention

Post by hebert83 » Thu Jan 21, 2010 7:43 am

In 2005 when defining pipe spools, it seemed that the naming convention used the name of the system currently set in the model at time of definition to name the pipe spools. In 2008 it seems to use the naming convention set as active in the spool settings under the manager, the problem is that it only allows a single naming convention to be set active at a time and it is set project based not drawings based. So when you have more than one person defining spools in different sytems, someone's spool naming get defined with the wrong system name. Is there a way to control this like it worked in 2005? Thanks

In ShipConstructor 2008, if you the have the System database element added to your spool naming convention, any spools defined will have a name generated that includes the system name of the pipes that make up the spool. It does not include the current. It sounds like you have defined your pipes in a system you did not intend to. The correct order of operations is:
1. Set the active system in a System Drawing using the System Manager
2. Model your pipes. You can verify they System of a pipe by looking at the SWBS property in the AutoCAD OPM. The field is structured Spec/System/Branch
3. Define your spools. The system of a spool is inherited from the pipes that make up the spool.
